ING NEWS: The 9th edition of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg is fast approaching, announcing a new orange sports party in Luxembourg City on Saturday 31 May

For the 2014 edition of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg 10,000 runners are expected, the same as last year. The competition itself can be considered as a success, due to the large number of requests for participation; ING expects a real popular success too, like it was the case these last years.

Together with Step by Step and in partnership with the City of  Luxembourg, ING has invested once more significant human and financial efforts to welcome the runners and spectators alike in a festive atmosphere

Luc Verbeken, CEO ING Luxembourg

In total, ING will gather more than 1,000 participants and volunteers during the Marathon. An orange wave is expected in the city with lots of ING signage (inflatable arches, orange lions, ING hot air balloon, banners) and thousands of orange gadgets (hats, trumpets and balloons) that will be distributed on 31 May among the spectators.

For this 9th edition, ING Luxembourg has decided to organize several activities in order to  animate the city center:

  • at the Place d’Armes, a mini obstacle race will be organized to entertain the spectators;
  • in the kiosk located at the Place d’Armes, the audience will have the possibility to take part in funny photos sessions with the theme “being a winner of the Marathon”;
  • Sam, ING’s mascot will walk in the city center and passersby can take a picture together with him, a picture that will be given to them afterwards

“Together with Step by Step and in partnership with the City of  Luxembourg, ING has invested once more significant human and financial efforts to welcome the runners and spectators alike in a festive atmosphere”, explained Luc Verbeken, CEO ING Luxembourg, during the press conference organized at the City Hall of Luxembourg on Monday 26 May 2014.

And this year, in order to promote the Marathon together with its offer related to savings, ING made a video clip available on Internet (www.ing.lu) and shown on television and in the cinemas. The purpose of this movie is to draw a parallel between the ING Orange Savings and the values of running. It shows a runner following the whole marathon route and focuses on the slogan « Everything is possible», comparing an individual’s savings rhythm and running rhythm. The video clip, which makes a link between our values and products is a nice post card of the City of Luxembourg, focusing on the key locations every runner passes when participating in the ING Night Marathon.
