The Special Olympics Luxembourg association is a sporting association for people with intellectual disabilities. It is recognised by the Luxembourg Ministry of Sports and is a member of the Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee (COSL – Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois), as well as being affiliated to Special Olympics International. The association aims to improve the self-confidence of people suffering from an intellectual disability and to improve their enjoyment of life through better integration. Active in over 180 countries, the Special Olympics organisation enables more than 2.5 million people with an intellectual disability to train and take part in competitions in 26 Olympic sports.

The cheque was presented to mark 50 years of the BGL BNP Paribas CAS, which was founded in November 1965 by 26 bank employees, with a first section dedicated to football. Fifty years on, the CAS has 19 sections allowing employees to enjoy a range of activities within the bank.
