Last night, Deloitte started a brand new chapter with the official opening of D.Square, its new building designed by Paul Bretz Architectes in collaboration with Moreno Architecture. Deloitte opened their doors to distinguished guests for an evening of discovery. For the first time, representatives from the political and business community could officially visit the iconic window terrace on the seventh floor as well as “The Gallery”—the exclusive client meeting and dining area on the 16th floor, the very top of the landmark building that boasts a breath-taking view over the city. Within a few months of moving more than 2,000 professionals from Neudorf and Findel to Cloche d’Or, the official opening of D.Square marks the start of a new era for the professional services firm.

“We are excited to be part of this rapidly developing area of Cloche d’Or. The new concept of a community, where business, residential, and recreational areas are intertwined rather than separated is very appealing to us,” stated John Psaila, Managing Partner of Deloitte Luxembourg.

The relocation to the new quarters was a strategic move for the company to support a strong city development, and to offer its employees and clients an improved work-life experience.

“Creating the best possible working environment for our colleagues is of the utmost importance,” commented Sophie Mitchell, Partner and Operations Leader at Deloitte Luxembourg. “In building a space that encourages creativity and innovative thinking for our employees, we are as well curating an atmosphere to best serve our clients.”

The new Deloitte development is designed to offer its residents and visitors an environment where vision, invention, and collaboration are at the forefront of day-to-day activities: “D.Square demonstrates our determination to foster collaboration between our colleagues while offering an inspiring environment to welcome our esteemed clients,” continued John Psaila. “In addition, this incredible square window, nested at the heart of our building, is there to constantly remind us of the importance to leave space for new ideas, new air coming in, and new talent to enrich our way.”

Augmented reality app to enrich the evening’s experience

D.Square will bring Deloitte’s conferences and trainings to another level. It includes a state-of-the art auditorium with 200 seats, a modern training area with 20 convertible rooms, as well as the Greenhouse on the seventh floor, where the Deloitte Innovation team will host innovation workshops for clients. It is on the seventh floor where Deloitte data scientists, developers, and cross-functional experts imagine and create AI proofs of concept and pilots that can be directly deployed, such as “AugmenteD”—the Deloitte Luxembourg augmented reality app that was crafted specifically for the inauguration. Guests could scan pictures of various Deloitte leaders spread throughout the building and were introduced to their respective office areas and vision through an AR video experience, offering a glimpse into the future of innovation.

Embracing the future of the marketplace

In his inauguration speech, John Psaila underlined the value of collaboration among all stakeholders of the Luxembourg financial center; business partners, competitors, and government representatives alike. He particularly stressed their joint contribution to the success of Luxembourg’s position in Europe and further: “To me, a success is never a one-man or one-firm story. It’s a collective endeavour, made richer by the diversity of knowledge and experience that unites people on a common path.”

Following John Psaila’s speech, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel underlined the need for the private and public sector to work in the same direction for the benefit of the country’s future prosperity.

Throughout this special evening, guests were treated to culinary surprises and show cooking from three globally-renowned chefs, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Roberto Fani and Kevin Lacote, reflecting the international spirit and cultural diversity—important values for both Deloitte and the Luxembourg marketplace. One of the highlights that will be remembered: the revelation of hundreds of small delicacies in the shape of the D.Square building on top of an LED-enlightened green dot, the unmistakeable mark of the Deloitte brand. Named Hommage à D.Square – Frozen Kiss, the little piece of culinary art was especially created for the evening by Chef Aduriz and his Mugaritz team.

In June this year, the majority of Deloitte professionals moved from Neudorf and Findel to the new D.Square office in Cloche d’Or with the purpose of uniting all service lines under one roof. However, due to exceptional und unforeseen growth, the firm retains another office with approximately 270 colleagues from the Financial Industry Solutions Team in Belval, Esch-Sur-Alzette.
