EY Luxembourg announces the nomination of Fernando Longares as the new Telecommunications, Media and Technology Leader
EY Luxembourg has the pleasure to announce the nomination of Fernando Longares as the new Telecommunications, Media and Technology Leader (TMT), succeeding to Gaël Denis.
Partner in the International Tax and Transfer Pricing practice since 2016 and current Leader of the TMT Tax practice, Fernando Longares joined EY in 2006. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium) and a degree in Economics from the University of Zaragoza (Spain).
Fernando brings an international experience in helping clients keeping pace with increased regulatory scrutiny, transfer pricing challenges and tax transformations such as the recent agreement by the OECD/G20 of the two-pillar solution addressing the tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy, which particularly concerns the sector.
Luxembourg is a pioneer and has been playing a historical role in Media, Telecommunications, Technology, Space – and Innovation in general. Its attractiveness has brought important global players to be present or headquartered in the country.
Fernando will continue to strengthen EY Luxembourg’s global footprint, serving major players of the sector and their worldwide ecosystems. From promising startups to multinational tech companies, a local team of 120 and global network of more than 55,000 professionals worldwide will accompany the industry’s most pressing transformations thanks to their multidisciplinary sector knowledge.
Fernando Longares comments: “I am delighted to be taking over from Gaël, who has done a fantastic job building out the services to our clients and the team. Technology is transforming our clients’ businesses globally, creating significant opportunities. From planning their business transformation to choosing the right technology and realizing the expected business outcome, our active participation becomes integral, and I look forward to supporting strong growth prospects. I strongly believe that our team can be a meaningful force for positive change in the country. “
Gaël Denis adds: “The time spent in my role as TMT Leader were fascinating. I am proud of my teams to have made EY Luxembourg an early supporter of the industry, understanding and anticipating our clients’ needs. TMT is an area which has thrived for the last decade and made it throughout the pandemic with even more strength. It never stops transforming. I trust that Fernando and his extensive experience will continue building on the unlimited opportunities and resources of the sector”.
Gaël Denis has been an Assurance Partner in the Luxembourg office for more than 10 years. After leading the TMT & FinTech practices for five years, he has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of EY Luxembourg.
Both have taken on their new roles on 1 July.
